Park Rapids Arbor Day Tree Give Away Winner
Urban Forestry Committee Awards Tree to David and Linda Anderson – 1011 Spruce Lane
Park Rapids, MN, April 28, 2017: The City of Park Rapids has earned the designation as a Tree City USA for 31 years by the Arbor Day Foundation. Every year, the City participates in activities to celebrate Arbor Day. This year the Urban Forestry Committee chose to celebrate by holding a drawing for a Japanese Lilac Tree and a self-watering Tree Gator at City Hall. On April 28, 2017, a winner was selected from 75 entries. Linda Anderson of 1011 Spruce Lane was the lucky resident who won the tree, watering bag and instruction on how to plant it.
The Urban Forestry Committee consists of a board of volunteers that meet on the 3rd Thursday of the Month at 8:00AM. Volunteers are working to advance urban forestry in the community. This includes maintaining the City’s status as a designated “Tree City USA” and helping to educate the public on tree related issues. Every year, the committee completes at least one activity to raise awareness around tree planting and a healthy urban forest. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the City of Park Rapids at (218) 732-3163
